Salford University’s past is rooted in the great Industrial Revolution of the 19th Century. In 2015 the University with its historic roots underwent a refurbishment of three of its student restaurants throughout the campus.

DL M&E Building Services were engaged to undertake the full electrical installation works relating to restaurant upgrades throughout the campus. Due to the presence of asbestos within the main canteen area, a full strip out of services and decontamination process was carried out, leaving the area safe to progress work within. Each of the restaurants had a bespoke lighting design and a modern aesthetic approach to electrical installation. All services were on display and the lighting was made up predominantly of bespoke pendants.

Works were completed over a 16-week phased programme, allowing an individual restaurant to be closed whilst the works were undertaken and asbestos removal to take place. As part of the project, DL M&E Building Services undertook the fit-out of a Subway sandwich shop which including the electrical requirements for the service area and storage room. The Subway Sandwich shop  is located within the Maxwell Building Restaurant.
