The Story of DL M&E Building Services
DL M&E began with just electrical installation services, but a passion and belief that the industry processes can be faster, more cost efficient and reliable for clients led to the company's growth to a full commercial M&E integrated service. Our passion to improve these services continues, combining value with greener, more sustainable solutions.
2004-2005
INCORPORATION OF DL ELECTRICAL
DL was founded in 2004 by Danny Lowe and the company bears his initials. Starting life as DL Electrical Contractors, in 2004, the company primarily operated as an electrical contractor undertaking electrical installation works for manufacturing plants, retail refurbishments, schools and office fitouts.
2007-2008
GRADUAL EXPANSION
Current Managing Director and Owner, Ben Milner, joined DL Electrical and saw growth of accounts in new sectors, providing electrical services with increasingly larger clients, including the CO-OP and Aldi.
2009
DESIGN DEPARTMENT FORMED
DL Electrical Contractor’s began undertaking Electrical designs in house and partnered with a Mechanical Contractor. This gave the company the ability to undertake small MEP design and build projects. It's the year DL started servicing the banking sector, beginning with Barclays.
2011-2014
FULL M&E CONTRACTING
Company name changes to DL M&E Building Services Ltd, now providing full in-house mechanical services alongside electrical. 🎉 New clients are added to DL's portfolio as they seek enhanced integrated M&E services, particularly from the banking sector, including NatWest, TSB, Barclays, NationWide Building Society and Lloyds Bank.
2015-2019
WIDENING CLIENT BASE
DL excelled in meeting the demands of large shopping and banking refurbishment works utilising our strengths in fully streamlined M&E.
Fully set apart from our competition, we worked as a frameworks contractor for the D&B corporate sector and government, transport, and healthcare sectors. We experienced fast growth working with high profile companies.
2019
DL M&E UNDERTOOK ITS LARGEST PROJECT TO DATE, BRISTOL TRINITY QUAY
Following the successful delivery of a large portfolio of CAT A and CAT B office fitouts, we were awarded with the largest project to date, a £10.5 million CAT A/B office refurbishment located in Bristol Trinity Quay.
In his role as Managing Director, in 2020, Ben was afforded the opportunity to undertake a management buyout of DL M&E, which went ahead in March 2021. Following the MBO, Ben formed the DL M&E Board.
2022
TURNOVER REACHES £23 MILLION
In 2022 our turnover reached approximately £23 Million; 30% of this turnover was achieved through our continued Banking & Retail frameworks. DL M&E also undertook a large portfolio of main plant/asset replacement projects alongside large/major office refurbishment projects.
Since the company's inception, DL has gone from strength to strength, working with some of the most recognisable names in the UK.
Today
Today DL M&E Building Services Ltd has over 100 full time staff with a reputation for providing an outstanding service for the UK's most recognisable Blue Chip names.
