Sam Young is successfully moving through his apprenticeship learning as a trainee mechanical design engineer, both at college and through his office work, performing with Distinction. Sam explains where he's up to in his college work and training:
Recently I achieved my level 3 national diploma in building services achieving the grades D*D. I also passed my level 3 apprenticeship which allows me to move onto the next level of education. In my level 3 national diploma I had to compete multiple assignments in subjects which relates back to what I do within the workplace. These subjects include, Unit 28 – HVAC, Unit 12 – Heating and Unit 14 – Drainage. I also learnt new skills such as the electrical side of building services.
As I Passed my level 3 apprenticeship, I was able to go to the Liverpool John Moores university to complete a degree (Level 6) in building services, hopefully completing my degree and apprenticeship by 2029. The first two years concentrates on completing the level 4 modules then the remaining three years looks at completing level 5 and level 6 modules to achieve my degree.
