At DL M&E Building Services, we are specialists in delivering high-quality Electrical and Mechanical building services across a diverse range of sectors, including commercial, healthcare, public sector, education, and industrial. Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Estimator to join our expanding pre-construction team.
The Role
This is an ideal opportunity for someone starting their career in estimating or electrical services. You'll support the tendering process for electrical projects, working alongside senior estimators and engineers to help deliver accurate, competitive bids and cost plans. This role is ideal for someone who has experience as an electrician or has some element of electrical knowledge whether than be through an apprenticeship or college course and would like a change of career within an office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing estimates and tender submissions for electrical works
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schedules, and specifications
- Perform quantity take-offs and compile cost information
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Help build detailed cost plans and breakdowns
- Maintain pricing databases and records of historical costs
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where necessary
Requirements
- Strong interest in electrical building services and estimating
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Comfortable working with numbers and data
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other estimating tools (training provided)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Some industry experience (e.g. internship, apprenticeship, or placement) is a plus
